- It is shot with an Infinity-enchanted bow.
- It is ane of the two actress arrows shot with a Multishot-enchanted crossbow.
This is the case even in Creative manner.[ane]

Skeletons and strays may drop between 0 and two arrows upon expiry. The maximum drib is increased by one per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0–5 arrows with Annexation III.
Strays accept a 50% run a risk of dropping i arrow of Slowness when killed by a player. Each level of Looting increases the take a chance of this drop by l% of the previous take chances. This results in a maximum of 93.75% with Looting III.
In Boulder Edition, pillagers also drop 0–ii arrows upon death. The maximum drib is increased by one per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-five arrows with Looting Three.

In Coffee Edition, they have a 2⁄3 take a chance to sell 5 tipped arrows for 2 emeralds and five arrows. Trades in Java Edition tin be the base of operations event, level 2, or extended; in Bedrock Edition, only the arrow of decay is level II.

Retrieving [ ]
Arrows stuck in a block that were originally shot past dispensers or by players in Survival without the Infinity enchantment may be collected. Arrows originally shot by skeletons, strays, illusioners, pillagers, piglins, players in Artistic, players using the Infinity enchantment, or indistinguishable arrows created by Crossbows with the Multishot enchantment cannot be collected. Arrows cannot be retrieved when they are stuck in a histrion or mob, and players or mobs do not driblet them when killed. Retrievable arrows accept a despawn timer of 60 seconds.
Cauldrons [ ]
In Boulder Edition, tipped arrows can likewise be obtained by using arrows on cauldrons that contain potions. The number of tipped arrows created depends on the potion inside the cauldron. When the cauldron is one⁄3 full, 16 arrows can be tipped. When the cauldron is ii⁄three full, up to 32 arrows can be tipped and when the cauldron is full, an entire stack of 64 arrows can be tipped. This is more efficient than using lingering potions as upward to 21.33 arrows can exist tipped per potion.
Usage [ ]
Come across too: Bow
When fired, arrows fly in a ballistic trajectory afflicted by gravity and elevate in air, water, and lava. The pointer's velocity is multiplied past 0.99 every tick, and it also experiences one m/south2 of downwardly acceleration induced past gravity.
Arrows travel approximately 3 blocks when fired parallel to a flat plane with no charge, fifteen blocks average with medium charge, and 24 blocks average with maximum charge. When fired from a fully charged bow, arrows tin travel 120 blocks if fired from an optimal bending. The maximum height an pointer fired by a bow can reach is around 66 blocks.
An arrow fired in water experiences much more drag than in air: information technology moves less than 8 blocks before completely losing horizontal speed and falling straight downwardly, although the knockback of the arrow remains unaffected. It besides leaves a trail of bubbling in its wake.
In that location is a random variable to the trajectory of an arrow, given by this.rand.nextGaussian() * 0.0075 * (double)inaccuracy
for the ten, y and z coordinate. The inaccuracy is relatively small-scale, becoming noticeable over larger distances. The inaccuracy of unlike arrow delivery devices may differ. Dispensers fire with an inaccuracy of 6, while bows fire with an inaccuracy of ane.
An arrow's speed determine the harm it inflicts. The damage inflicted is calculated past multiplying the arrow's damage value with its velocity in blocks per game tick. When fired from a fully-charged unenchanted bow, arrows do six of damage, with a smaller chance to damage for up to 11 × v.v via critical hits. They inflict upward to five impairment from a medium-charged bow, and i from a bow with no charge. Arrows fired from dispensers always practise three of damage unless their velocity is modified by an external source. Arrows fired from crossbows practice 6 to eleven × 5.five of harm.
Arrows trigger damage immunity on hit. However, unlike other methods of damage that may bypass invulnerability under certain conditions, arrows hitting the mob while it is invulnerable lose all speed and drop to the ground, dealing no damage unless they contact another mob.
Arrows too stick into objects they come up in contact with and remain at that place for one minute before disappearing; the distance from the object and the angle determine how far into the target the arrow penetrates. Such arrows may be retrievable.
If the pointer has any custom potion effects (NBT tag CustomPotionEffects
), all potion effects, including vanilla potion effects (NBT tag Potion
) are removed 30 seconds after the arrow stops moving.
If an arrow is stuck in a block, and that block is broken or disappears (eastward.g., leaves upon decay), and then the arrow falls straight downward and damages entities below, just never deals a critical hitting.
Arrows tin bounce off mobs immune to damage like the wither under the "wither armor" upshot and a perching ender dragon.
Arrows shot through lava or (if at that place's at least a 2 block gap) fire grab on fire and show an appropriate animation until they pass through h2o. Like arrows shot from a bow with the Flame enchantment, they tin set other entities they hit on fire for v seconds too every bit ignite TNT and campfires.
An arrow shot at a boat[ JE only ] or any kind of minecart causes the vehicle to interruption, dropping any components (including container contents).
Arrows can get visually stuck in players in Java Edition, although not any other mobs. They announced every bit regular arrows regardless of type.[2]

Redstone circuits [ ]
An arrow can activate a wooden button, wooden pressure level plate, a tripwire, or a target. If the arrow sticks in the switch, the switch remains activated until the arrow despawns after i infinitesimal. Target blocks emit a redstone pulse for one second, equally opposed to the static depressed state of the other switches. Not-wooden switches are not affected by arrows.
When arrows are fired into the sides of blocks, they modify their orientation to betoken more down than their original flight path might indicate. This can cause them to intersect and thus trigger switches higher up them that they didn't actually hit, or block runway above them.
Explosions [ ]
Arrows are affected by explosions while they are in flight. Since explosions can increase the speed of an pointer, they can also increment the damage dealt by them. [ Java Edition but ]
Variants [ ]
Tipped arrows [ ]
Run into besides: § Crafting
Tipped arrows are arrows that imbue a potion effect when hitting a mob or player. The duration of the effect is i⁄8 that of the corresponding potion, if applicable, and is not affected by the power of the arrow. The status effect is the same equally the regular power effect for the potion. If a bow is enchanted with Infinity, tipped arrows are still consumed.
The types of arrows are:
- Arrow of Regeneration
- Arrow of Swiftness
- Arrow of Fire Resistance
- Arrow of Healing
- Arrow of Night Vision
- Arrow of Forcefulness
- Arrow of Leaping
- Arrow of Invisibility
- Arrow of Poison
- Arrow of Weakness
- Pointer of Slowness
- Arrow of Harming
- Arrow of Water Breathing
- Arrow of Luck [ JE only ]
- Arrow of Decay [ BE only ]
- Arrow of the Turtle Principal
- Arrow of Slow Falling
Arrows of Harming (and arrows of Healing when used confronting undead mobs) do not add a static amount of damage to the pointer. Instead, the pointer'southward impairment is kickoff calculated, then checked to see if it is below 12 × half-dozen. If the arrow'south harm is less than 12, the Harming effect of the arrow makes up the difference, to ensure the pointer does exactly 12 × 6. Therefore, an unenchanted bow cannot deal more than than 12 damage using Harming (or Healing) arrows, every bit information technology can deal a maximum of 11 × 5.5 harm on level footing. Nevertheless, if the arrow would deal more 12 damage, the harming outcome is entirely neutralized. This ways that bows enchanted with Power I through Ability Three has a take a chance to not utilise the arrow at full charge, and any Ability level in a higher place 3 never utilizes Arrows of Harming finer at full charge when against unarmored mobs/players.
No-result tipped arrows [ ]
It is possible to craft tipped arrows using Lingering H2o Bottles too as Bad-mannered, Thick, and Mundane Lingering potions. If crafted with a water bottle, the arrow is called an pointer of Splashing. If crafted with Mundane, Bad-mannered, or Thick potions, it is chosen a tipped arrow.[iii] Tipped arrows crafted from dissimilar potions do not stack.
All four kinds generate bluish particles in flight and upon landing, but otherwise behave similar regular arrows. In particular, arrow of Splashing has no effect on burn and campfires and when shot from a bow with the Flame enchantment, can low-cal campfires and TNT just similar regular arrows on burn down.

Uncraftable tipped arrows [ ]
In Java Edition, the uncraftable tipped pointer is a tipped arrow with no effect that is unobtainable in regular gameplay. It is available in two variants that don't stack together:
-
/give @s minecraft:tipped_arrow{Potion:"minecraft:empty"}
- arrow assigned an effect placeholder "empty" -
/give @s minecraft:tipped_arrow
- arrow not assigned any issue.
The uncraftable pointer doesn't differ from regular arrows in behavior when used every bit a projectile.

Spectral arrows [ ]
A spectral arrow confers the Glowing status effect for 10 seconds. The Glowing upshot creates an outline of the target, which is visible through blocks, and colored based on the target's squad (white by default). Even if a bow is enchanted with Infinity, spectral arrows are still consumed.

Trivia [ ]
- By default, arrows fly slightly offset to the right. If the thespian stands close to a wall and fires several arrows without moving the crosshair, the arrows cluster around a betoken slightly to the right of the crosshair. If the role player switches their chief hand to exist the left hand in options, the arrows instead cluster to the left.
- Arrows fired at Under Portals often skip through the portal block completely and fail to collide, thus continuing through to the opposite side of the cake.
- Arrows stuck in blocks vibrate upon a world reload.[7]
- Although endermen teleport when hit by any tipped arrow, they are still given the said effects while avoiding arrow impairment.
- In Bedrock Edition, even if a tipped arrow is blocked with a shield, while the direct harm from the arrows is negated, the role player still gets the effect from the tipped pointer.[8]
